As a New Zealand age group representative duathlete, I was experiencing regular and ongoing muscular problems in both lower legs. Since attending Sarah’s one-on-one pilates sessions, my leg problems have completely disappeared. Sarah’s innovative ideas and caring communication have made what started out as a trying ordeal into a weekly pilates session that I now look forward to.- Chris Fletcher
Bodyreform, based in Grey Lynn, Auckland City is a comfortable, fully-equipped rehabilitation and pilates studio with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. We value your privacy, so there’s usually only one client in the studio at a time. And you’re welcome to bring your baby or child along – we know how hard it can be to get to appointments without them! We also have a DVD player, blankets, lolly pops and a bouncer for small ones; to help you and your child get through your appointment with us.
At your first appointment, we’ll assess your injury, pain or problem area and discuss a course
of treatment with you, which may include therapeutic massage techniques, physiotherapy
techniques and exercises and/or clinical pilates sessions to improve your core strength. You
may like to try one of our pilates classes in Auckland, either mat class or a pilates equipment
class.
We’ll establish whether you’re an ACC or private client and take care of any necessary
paperwork for you. If required, we’ll refer you for an x-ray or ultrasound or to see a sports
physician or specialist.
If you're new to pilates, you'll need to learn to identify and activate some specific muscle groups which are your core muscles. Most people need a few one-to-one sessions initially. Then you can choose to carry on with private tuition or join one of our pilates classes in Auckland.
Clinical Pilates has many proven benefits which include improving core strength, posture, flexibility and balance. It also increases muscle tone and power, and facilitates spine lengthening and stomach flattening . Because pilates strengthens key muscles in the centre of your body – the core muscles that hold you upright and keep you stable. This allows us to move our arms and legs freely – it’s also an effective clinical tool to support physiotherapy treatment.
If you’re injured or in pain, pilates allows you to take an active part in your rehabilitation and ongoing wellbeing. If you’re fit and active and looking for a challenge, pilates is an excellent complement to any gym or training programme, making you stronger, more agile, flexible and more resistant to injury. Pilates at Bodyreform in Auckland, helps you get the best out of your body no matter what you do.
